Lagos arrests 17 for public nuisance on pedestrian bridges

Daily Post March 28, 2026 2 mins read

Seventeen persons have been arrested by Lagos State enforcement teams for alleged public nuisance on pedestrian bridges along the Lagos–Abeokuta Expressway corridor.

The operation was carried out on Saturday morning between 8am and 10am along the stretch covering Ladipo BRT Terminal to Pleasure BRT Terminal.

According to the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the exercise was a targeted enforcement action carried out by state teams in the area.

During the operation, enforcement officers moved through pedestrian bridges along the corridor and arrested 17 individuals described as miscreants for constituting public nuisance and engaging in activities that affect the safety and security of commuters.

“These pedestrian bridges are critical infrastructure designed for the safe passage of pedestrians, not havens for illegal activity. We will not tolerate any individual or group turning public assets into spaces for harassment, extortion, or criminal behavior.

“The seventeen arrested individuals will be processed in accordance with the law,” the Commissioner said.

The statement emphasized that pedestrian bridges are meant strictly for safe pedestrian movement and not for any form of illegal or disruptive activities.

Authorities said the arrested individuals would be processed according to the law.
